Effects - Inspiration

I would like to include special effects in my short film to create a more psychedelic feeling and bring the audience deeper into the character's world. Thinking about what I could use and how I should include effects into my narrative, I tried to find inspiration from sources I watched previously. I thought about a scene from NBC's Hannibal, and a music video from psychedelic pop/rock artist Lana del Rey. The effects used are kaleidoscope in the first, and overlays combined with color effects in the latter.
